The new PS3 Slim certainly is thinner and lighter than the outgoing original launch form factor PS3, but has the new packaged gained any athleticism thanks to its new build?

If the results from a user-performed test are to believed, the PS3 Slim is slower than the old model when it comes to system boot times and loading of Blu-ray Disc movies, but the newer console comes out ahead when it’s time to game

the Slim is well slimmer and you cant install other OS on it, other than that not much.

the slim has some different parts to make it smaller , run a bit cooler and use 1/3 less energy – you can’t install linux on the slim , you can on the older ones and 3 early phat models play ps2 games too but those models haven’t been built for a couple of years so won’t be available new
. other than that it’s just the look and the hard drive sizes that are different .

The ps3 and ps3 slim are very similar other than a few differences. The slim has only one version which is the 120 gb while the fat one has 20, 40, 60, 80, and 120 gb. Why does this really make a difference? Well, 20, 60, and old 80 gb ones can play ps2 and one of them can even play ps1 games which is good because the ps2 is the most sold console ever and a lot of people still have the games. Also its obvious that the ps3 slims is very portable though it still is pretty big. Another thing is that some of the versions of the ps3 have usb ports and not just 2. Also this is a guess but I’m pretty sure that the ps3 slim uses a little less energy (Actually, no I’m pretty sure). Also, Ps3 slim has slower booting times and you can’t install a type of internet service (don’t really remember but it begans with L).

they both are big pieces of sh**! I have an xbox and still think pc gaming is far superior to consoles. Do yourself a favor and get a system thatll last and is not much more money than a new bullsh** fully loaded ps3 and go with a PC.

With the slim it is lighter-weight, uses less electricity power, doesn’t heat up as quick, skinnier, and in my opinion it’s much better. I got the slim, and my friend has the fat one and the only thing “better” about the PS3 fat is that it has a cooler look in my opinion, but hey a PS3 is a PS3 and it’s not good to judge things by how they look.

The slim has a bigger hard drive (120 and 250 compared to 80 and 160) although both contain simple PC hard drives so that isn’t really a problem. The slim is also considerably lighter than the fat one. There is one other major difference that doesn’t really affect many players and that is the fact that you can install Linux on the fat PS3 which is not possible on the slim.
